Biography

Duncan McVicar is Reader in Economics at Queen's University Management School. His research interests are mainly in applied labour economics - programme evaluation, unemployment and inactivity, careers and youth transitions - although he occasionally ventures onto other ground. Recent publications include papers in or forthcoming in the following journals: Economica, Labour Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Scottish Journal of Politicl Economy, Applied Economics, Journal of Economic Surveys and Regional Studies. He has conducted externally funded research for various Government departments including for DEL on social exclusion of young people (Status 0) and on the New Deal for Young People, and for DSD on the impact of benefit reform.
