Biography

John Addison is Professor of Economics in the School of Management. Before joining Queen's University, John T. Addison was Hugh C. Lane Professor of Economics Theory at the University of South Carolina (U.S.A.). Addison was made a research fellow of the Institute for Employment Research of the German Federal Employment Agency in 2005, and appointed to the Kuratorium/Board of Trustees of the Institute for Labor Law and Industrial Relations in the European Community at the University of Trier in 2006.

In addition, he has been a research fellow of IZA, Bonn, since 2001 and was Commerzbank Chaired Visiting Professor of Economics at the Technical University of Chemnitz in 2006.

Addison has published widely in the major economics and specialty labor economics journals, including the Review of Economics & Statistics, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Business, American Economic Review, and Industrial & Labor Relations Review. He is the author/editor of a number of labor economics texts, including the International Handbook of Trade Unions (Edward Elgar, 2003). His latest book is the three-volume Recent Developments in Labor Economics (Edward Elgar, 2007).
