Julian Warner is a graduate of the universities of Newcastle, Oxford, and Sheffield. He has been a faculty member in information science at the Queen's University of Belfast since 1984. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Graduate School of Library and Science,
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the School of Library and Information Studies, University of California at Berkeley.
His research interests are linked to economics by a current project developing an information view of history, which includes understandings of information technology, assimilates a previous, and continuing, research theme, semiotics, writing, and computing, and draws on historical studies of copyright. Other research interests include;
Information Retrieval, Diffusion Studies, and Research evaluation represent linked interests.
